SCOTT TOWNSHIP, IN (WTVB) – An Angola man at last report was in the intensive care unit of Parkview Regional Medical Center after his car crashed into a tree on Thursday morning.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just after 7:30 a.m. in the area of County Roads 200 North and 200 East.
Deputies report 25-year-old Camdin Jewell was ejected from the vehicle. He was found laying on the ground unconscious and unresponsive when deputies and first responders arrived.
An initial crash scene investigation indicated that a blue 2004 Honda CR-V driven by Jewell appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed. A witness indicated that the Honda passed her vehicle on the left.
Jewell then lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and collided with a tree. Deputies say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
He was transported to Cameron Hospital by Steuben County EMS before being flown to Parkview by the Samaritan Helicopter for treatment of internal injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
Also assisting the Sheriff’s Office were Angola Police, fire departments from Angola and Metz as well the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division.
