Larry Allen Stanley, 69, of Springfield passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 at his home.
In keeping with Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City.
Larry was born on May 17, 1955, to Robert and Joan (Ripley) Stanley in Coldwater, Michigan. He graduated from Coldwater High School with the Class of 1973.
Shortly after graduation, Larry went through training to become a prison guard for the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater. He worked in Coldwater for many years, before transferring to the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility in Jackson. Larry eventually transferred back to Coldwater until his retirement in 2000.
Larry was a hard worker, but in his off time, he loved to go bowling, fishing, and playing cards whenever he could. He was also a sports fan, watching the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers games, and WWE wrestling. Larry never missed a watching a wrestling match on television. He will be missed by many.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Amy (Doug) Decker of Homer and Heather (Ken Liebler) Stanley of Homer; his grandchildren, Aubrianna Purchis, Brenden Boettner, Gavin Liebler, Devin Liebler, Kristina Decker and Jazmyne Sanders; his siblings, Sue (Richard) Wagner of White Pigeon, MI, Lori (Bill) Young of Casnovia, MI, Cindy (Steve) Shafor of Dorr, MI, Luann (Rick) Barber of Coldwater, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded by his parents, his son, Eric Stanley, and his brother, Robert Stanley, Jr.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
