COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A public hearing will be held during Monday’s Coldwater Planning Commission meeting about potentially eliminating marijuana grow establishments from the special land use approval process for property within the city that is zoned industrial.
There have been discussions about taking this action over the last two years.
Grower and excess grower licenses are presently permitted in D-2 Heavy Industrial zoned areas with special land use approval.
Special land use approval is also needed for Microbusinesses to operate in areas zoned C-4 General Business.
Four special land use requests have been approved since May of 2021 but only Craft Leaf LLC at 211 West Garfield has been licensed by the State of Michigan and the City of Coldwater.
City Attorney Amanda O’Boyle says Craft Leaf would not be affected by the proposed changes.
