Clarence Southcott, Jr., age 84, of Coldwater passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at his home.
A celebration of life for Clarence Southcott will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Coldwater with a light luncheon to follow at the church.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy.
He was born November 2, 1939, in Coldwater to Clarence and Bernice (Forsythe) Southcott. He married Jenny Farris, and she preceded him in death in 2002.
Clarence grew up in Branch County and attended Coldwater High School. After high school, Clarence went on to serve his country in the US Army.
Once returning from service, he was employed at several places in the area including Midwest Foundry, Shaw Shoes, Care Source, and eventually retired from working on the grounds crew at Coldwater Golf Course.
His family will remember him as a jack of all trades. He was knowledgeable in many areas, from plumbing to siding his own house, to crafting homemade knives.
He was very artistic and could often be found in his garage tinkering on his Mercurys and other old cars or woodworking.
Survivors include three children, Katrina Southcott, Roscoe Southcott and Jeff (Tammy) Southcott; grandchildren, Anthony Southcott, Rockell Bentley, Dzerea Watters, Adam Southcott and Korie Stowell; great grandchildren, Winnie Southcott, Roman Stowell, Kane Southcott, Michael, Shelby and Aaron Bentley, Destinie and Justin Cooper and Calvin Watters; nieces, Jane Bauhof and Sharon Conway, and several other nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jenny, and sister, Barbara Hufnagle.
