BURLINGTON, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers swept the boys and girls meets on Tuesday as they hosted a Big 8 Conference Cross Country Jamboree at Turtle Creek Golf Course.
The Chargers won the boys meet with 23 points followed by Quincy with 70 points, Concord with 71 points and Bronson in fourth with 105.
Union City had four of the top six finishers led by Ben Gautsche who won in a time of 17:07.99. Jason Shoop (17:46.45) was third, Malachi Payne (18:11.24) was fourth and Cohen Burdick (18:17.54) was sixth. Noah June (18:46.24) recorded a top ten finish as was ninth.
Chayse Jensen was the top Quincy runner as he was fifth in a time of 18:14.71. Carter Feltner (18:43.93) was eighth while Hunter Walker was 17th, Eddie Miller was 19th and Coy Wood was 23rd.
Tyler Wilber led Bronson with a 13th place finish in a time of 19:14.44. Carter Sikorksi (19:58.58) was 16th, Matthew Anderson (21:10.28) was 24th, Jovani Ramos was 28th and Brayton Cosby was 29th.
Union City edged Bronson by nine points to win the girls meet. The Chargers had 42 points followed by the Vikings with 51 and Quincy in third with 64.
Bronson’s Ava Hathaway (19:56.59) and Ashlynn Harris (20:05.51) finished 1-2. Union City’s Skyler Fraley (20:34.51) and Allison Gautsche (21:03.95) were third and fourth respectively followed by Quincy’s Charlotte Crabbs (21:37.76) in fifth place.
Quincy’s Kendyl Musielewicz (22:08.24) was seventh. Parker Williams of Union City (22:34.96) was ninth followed by Quincy’s Lainey Yearling (22:37.88) in tenth, Union City’s Alissa Skirka (22:49.60) in 12th, Bronson’s Alonna Goodsell (22:57.81) in 13th, Elizabeth Arlt of Union City (23:33.75) in 14th, Lydia Wells of Bronson (23:39.85) in 15th, Elizabeth Craig of Quincy (24:18.12) in 18th, Carly Smith of Union City in 19th and Abbi Ferry of Bronson in 20th.
