COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners recommended to the V.A. Board that Whitney Lewis to be the next Branch County Department of Veterans Affairs Director on Tuesday.
While Tom Matthew abstained, the other four Commissioners picked Lewis over the other two finalists.
The Commissioners interviewed Lewis, Jacqueline Yap and Callie Curtis for the job on Tuesday afternoon.
Lewis was a sergeant in the Air Force and has also performed counseling work.
Long time V.A. Director Charles Scott informed the county in July he intended to retire at the end of the year.
County Administrator Bud Norman there were 23 applications submitted for the job.
