COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A City of Coldwater bond proposal for future road projects in the city is on the November fifth ballot.
City Manager Keith Baker says it’s a millage renewal but they can’t call it a renewal.
The ballot language says the estimated millage to be levied in 2025 is 1.52 mills or $1.52 per $1,000 of taxable value.
The funds would be used to pay for work on public streets, parking lots, utilities and sidewalks in the City.
Baker said pending City Council approval, they are looking at projects in the near future on Morse, East Pearl, West Pearl, Polk and Fremont Streets because of the age and nature of the streets.
He can’t call it a “renewal” because it is not a “renewal”. This is a trick he learned how to play from the former Coldwater Community School Superintendent/CEO and multiple Coldwater City position official Mrs. Weland when she was playing her tricky games trying to pay new school millages as “replacements”. THIS IS A COMPLETELY NEW MILLAGE!
