COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The storms that came through Branch County Saturday evening forced organizers of Coldwater’s Haunted Forest at Rotary Park to shut down early.
There were no weather issues on the first night of the Haunted Forest on Friday night. The annual Halloween event caters to the younger audience at 5:00 p.m. on each of the two nights it’s held with a scarier adventure starting at 7:30 p.m..
But with the storms which included lightning and heavy rain approaching, the Coldwater Recreation Department announced just before 7:00 p.m. Saturday night that the event was being shut down.
They posted on their Facebook page, “Due to the weather, we are now closing down the Haunted Forest for the season. Sorry to those who were planning on coming to the later evening session, and thank you to all of those who were able to support us! We will see you all next year.”
Much needed rain fell on Saturday night. The M.S.U. Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm measured 1.51 inches of rain between 8:00 p.m. Saturday night and 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
