COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a resolution on Monday night that would streamline and simplify the current fee structure at the Dr. Robert W. Browne Recreation Center.
Community Enrichment Director Julie Santure said when the facility first opened a decade ago, it made sense to have city and non-city resident rates.
But after the recent agreement between the City, Branch County and Coldwater Community Schools for the funding and operation of the Robert W. Browne Aquatic Center, she felt it would benefit all users to set a single rate.
Santure pointed out that in 2023, they had 86.4 percent City residents compared to 13.6 percent non-city residents.
The resolution approved by the City Council also increases fees for rentals, such as for courts, Heritage Hall, the Community Room, and the pavilions.
Santure said they have found the proposed fee adjustments were similar to comparable facilities, and the adjusted fees would also assist with increasing expenses.
