THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – A no contact advisory has been issued for portions of the St. Joseph River in Three Rivers following a major wastewater spill earlier this week.
Three Rivers Wastewater Superintendent Taylor Davis says more than 50,000 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled into the river on Monday following some type of an obstruction to a line during a transition into a new pump station on Broadway Street.
The no contact advisory is in effect for the river between the Broadway Street bridge and the Withers Road bridge.
Anyone who has contact with the water is urged to shower and wash clothes immediately.
