Tim was born November 25, 1984 in Soest, Netherlands, the son of David Birk and Carrie (Washburn) Angulo. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 2003 and enlisted in the US Army upon his graduation.
Timothy was a soldier through and through. He ended his career as the First Sergeant of Higher Headquarters Company, Division Special Troops Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade. Tim had the mentality that his soldiers were his most important asset and was known as a strong, but humble leader who led by example. He was well regarded by his peers for his extensive knowledge base and drive to be the best.
At home, he was an amazing support and best friend to his fiancé, Amanda. He loved to spend time with his family and show his playful side and sense of humor – especially with his son Michael and daughter Alexandra (Bean), his children were his world. Every year, Tim looked forward to Thanksgiving, his favorite holiday, filled with great food and quality time spent with his family.
He had an extensive list of hobbies, including his love for traveling and experiencing other countries and their cultures. Tim was an amazing painter and loved listening to death metal music. He collected rocks and gemstones from all over the world and owned many saltwater fish. Tim had a large collection of Magic Cards, and recently started to enjoy photography.
Timothy was an accomplished scuba diver and a gardener who had a love of Bonsai Trees and Japanese Maples. His lifelong dream was to own and operate a scuba diving company in a foreign country. Tim also loved authentic Mexican food; he would say “No TexMex!”
Tim was respected and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He touched many great lives during his time on earth and his untimely passing is met with immense sadness by many people inside and outside of the military community. He was truly a force to be reckoned with.
Tim is survived by his fiancé Amanda Pourtaimour of Nolanville, TX; his children Michael Birk of Stockton, CA, Alexandra Birk of Nolanville, TX; his father David Birk of Coldwater, his mother Carrie Angulo of Coldwater; his siblings Michael (Lindsey) Birk of Coldwater, Johnathan Birk of Chicago, IL, Consuelo (Andrew) Clark of Clare, MI, Tony (Brandi McIntyre) Birk of Jacksonville, FL; grandparents Jerry Birk of Coldwater, Duane & Betty Washburn of Bronson; his former wife Eliane Atad of Stockton, CA; aunts and uncles Laurie & Mark Budd, Tom Washburn, Gary Washburn, Lisa Stout; nieces and nephews Landyn, Walker, Cameron, Hailey, Julian and many cousins.
