BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Republican Jennifer Wortz will be the 35th District State House Representative effective on January 1, 2025 after she defeated Democratic opponent Don Hicks in Tuesday’s General Election by an almost 3-to-1 margin.
With 83 percent of the vote counted early Wednesday morning, Wortz had 74 percent of the vote throughout the district.
She won 52 percent of the vote in a tough August G.O.P. primary race with Hillsdale Mayor Adam Stockford and Branch County Commissioner Tom Matthew.
Wortz is a Hillsdale County native. She and her husband own Central Grace Farms. Her family has lived in Branch County for two decades.
Wortz will succeed Andrew Fink as State Representative after he decided to run for the Michigan Supreme Court.
