COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with a incident in May of 2023 in which persons tried to smuggle contraband into the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater.
Troopers in Kent County arrested a 24-year-old woman from Grand Rapids on Friday on felony charges in connection with the investigation.
Her name is being withheld at this time since she has not been arraigned.
According to a State Police press release, the contraband was intercepted before it
reached prisoners.
It led to a investigation involving the Michigan Department of Corrections and the State Police into this incident and others that spanned into early 2024. Several suspects were eventually identified.
