Hilda Mae Smith, 91, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024 at her home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor Deb Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
She was born September 24, 1933, in Reading to Roswell and Hazel (Stafford) Tift. She married Edgar “Ed” Smith on July 14, 1950, and he preceded her in death.
Hilda attended Reading Schools and was a former dispatcher for Branch County Sheriff Department and the Quincy Police and Fire.
She loved snowmobiling, working in her yard, gardening, and being with her friends at Lake Waldena in Florida. Most of all, she loved spending time and creating memories with her granddaughters.
Hilda had a kind heart, and her ability to laugh through any situation.
Survivors include her daughter, Patti (Brian Hickok) Champion; granddaughters, Tammy Hubert and Brandee (Jeff) Pabian; great-grandson, Cody (Amanda) Peterson; and great-great-grandchildren, Mason Glowe and Ryleigh Peterson; brother, Don (Emma Jean) Tift; sisters, Francis (Larry) Michael and Mary Ellen Sautter; and special friends, Robert Champion of Coldwater, Bob Cox and Gloria Palmer, both of Lake Waldena, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Smith; brother, Harold Dean Tift; grandson, Christopher “CJ” Peterson; and sister-in-law, Joyce Tift.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in honor of her late grandson, CJ Peterson.
