BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – It was a bad Tuesday morning on Branch County roads as two injury crashes took place within minutes of one another.
The first happened at about 5:45 a.m. at U.S. 12 and Briggs Road. The Branch County Sheriff’s Department reports 47-year-old Margarette Toussaint of Quincy was traveling east on U.S. 12 in a 2012 Chevy Equinox when she could not stop for other vehicles turning into the Paragon Metals parking lot.
She went to the left, lost control and struck a cement barricade along with bales of soil product.
Toussaint sustained minor injuries and was treated by Life Care medics. She was then taken to Insight Coldwater Hospital.
The Sheriff’s Department said in a news release that speed appeared to be a factor in the crash which remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted by LifeCare Ambulance, Coldwater Towing and the Quincy Fire Department.
The second injury crash happened less than a half hour later at about 6:10 a.m. as two vehicles collided in the area of Fenn Road and Angola Road.
Two injuries were reported. The Sheriff’s Department says 62-year-old Kerri Morr of Coldwater was traveling south on Angola Road while 57-year-old Dale Reske of Sebewaing was heading north.
Deputies say Reske failed to yield as he turned left onto Fenn Road and in front of Morr.
Reske was treated at the scene by LifeCare Ambulance. Moor was transported to Oaklawn Hospital by LifeCare Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by LifeCare Ambulance and the Coldwater Fire Department.
