BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The City of Bronson has been recommended for a state grant of over $387,000 that would be used for the city’s Rail Trail Project.
The grant is through the Department of Natural Resources Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund.
Patrick Bird from the City of Bronson says the funds still have to be appropriated by the State Legislature.
The City of Bronson submitted an application last April for the funds to help finance the Non-motorized Trail Development Project.
The project will include construction of a new non-motorized trail along the former Northeastern Rail Line that runs through the northern portion of the City from Albers Road to Cronkhite Vault Services Incorporated on Industrial Avenue.
It’s felt the trail will create pedestrian connectivity which is said to be lacking in the area.
