Charlene (Sporer) Dappen, 80, of Bellevue, NE, went to be with the Lord December 11, 2024 at Grand Vista in Coldwater, MI.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Charlene was born April 15, 1944, to Charles and Susie (Stull) Sporer in Murray, Nebraska; where she attended Murray Christian Church, Murray Elementary School, and graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1962.
Charlene is survived by two sisters, Lucy (Allan) Sherwood, Coldwater, MI, and Donna (Bob) Laflin, Franklin, TN; and many cousins and nephews, a niece, and seven great nieces and nephews.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Betty and Winnie.
Charlene was greatly loved. For twelve years, Charlene had resided at Heritage Ridge, Bellevue, NE, where the residents loved her out-going and caring personality. At every opportunity, she would go on outings to various places, such as the Henry Doorly Zoo, the Casinos, and going shopping. Every week (most every day) she would play Kings in the corner and Bingo. She was accustomed to winning often.
Each holiday brought a special opportunity to decorate her apartment, and wear costumes and jewelry, and or dress up other people as well, to fit the occasion. She enjoyed making people happy through her many talents with crafts. One of her specialties was decorating a birthday sponge cake (a real sponge), and then laughing as the person of honor tried to cut the “cake.”
Throughout her life, Charlene truly loved and cared for her many dogs and cats.
Memorial gifts may be made in her name to the Murray Christian Church, 304 W. Young St, Murray, Nebraska 69409.
