BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – If you think January has been cold so far, you haven’t seen anything yet.
The National Weather Service says another round of arctic air will affect Branch County’s weather early next week with dangerous wind chills expected.
The temperature has not been above freezing since New Year’s Day.
The mercury dipped to three degrees above zero at the Branch County Memorial Airport just after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday night with a wind chill of nine below zero.
Highs are forecast to get into the low to mid 30s on Thursday, Friday and Saturday but then the bottom drops out.
The arctic air will keep highs in the low teens on Sunday and in the single digits on Monday and Tuesday.
If that’s not bad enough, wind chills from Sunday night through Tuesday are expected to be 15 to 20 degrees below zero.
