ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A woman from Anderson, Indiana turned herself in at the Steuben County Jail on Sunday after a pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night on the north side of Angola.
Angola Police say 39-year-old Alisha Garza was arrested on a felony charge of Leaving the Scene of a Crash Resulting in Death.
Police say 78-year-old Terry Coffey, Senior of Hudson, Indiana was struck and killed at about 9:13 p.m. Friday night on North Wayne Street in the area of Flagstar Bank and Culver’s.
The suspect vehicle was heading north when it struck Coffey. Police say the driver then failed to stop and fled the scene continuing north on North Wayne for a short time.
The arrest came after Angola Police and Indiana State Police posted information on social media requesting assistance from the public. Garza at one point made a comment about the incident on Facebook.
