COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a tweak to the city’s lease with the Coldwater Community Center on Monday night.
The non-profit corporation formed by community members has been working on the former Putnam Funeral Home and utilizing it as a community center.
City Manager Keith Baker said they were amending the terms of a lease from November of 2023 which called for the City to pay all utilities during the first year.
Baker said in his memo to the Council that according to IRS tax filings, the gross receipts of Coldwater Community Center, Inc. was less than $50,000 for tax year 2023.
He adds the group is pursuing State grant funds through the State Historic Preservation Office to make further improvements to the building.
The remaining terms of the Lease Agreement would remain the same.
