BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles started fast and they never looked back as they routed arch-rival Reading 71-24 on the Rangers home court Friday night.
The win snapped a three game losing streak as they improved to 4-6 in the Big 8 and 7-8 overall.
The Orioles came out firing from the gate outscoring the Rangers in the first quarter 20-8. A big 27-11 second quarter pushed the Orioles ahead 47-19 at the half.
Quincy did not take the foot off the gas in the third quarter as they outscored Reading 17-3 to take a commanding 64-22 lead.
The Orioles had four players finish in double figures led by Brandon Miner with 13 points. Alex Dunn added 12 points while Corey Turner scored 11 points and Ryan Kempter had 10 points.
Elsewhere in Branch County boys high school basketball on Friday night, the Union City Chargers stayed two games out of first place in the Big 8 with a 62-37 win over Maple Valley at McNett Field House. Union City had won three straight and five of their last six as they are now 7-3 in the Big 8 and 11-5 overall.
The Bronson Vikings lost at home to Concord 54-46. The Vikings are now 4-6 in the Big 8 and 7-9 overall.
The Tekonsha Indians lost to North Adams-Jerome 50-30. Tekonsha’s record is now 2-13.
