MILLGROVE TOWNSHIP, IN (WTVB) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office has released details of a fatal crash took place last Saturday night.
They say the crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. on State Road 120 near County Road 525 West.
Deputies found a 2024 Toyota Camry fully engulfed in flames on the north side of the road near a large concrete post when they arrived.
Witnesses indicated that the vehicle had been traveling west on 120 at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control for an unknown reason, slid off of the north side of the road and collided with the post.
The vehicle then burst into flames. Once the fire was put out by Orland and Fremont Fire crews, the driver was found dead inside the vehicle.
The name of the driver is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
They were assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police, Fremont Fire, Orland Fire, Steuben County EMS, and the Steuben County Coroner’s Office.
