BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – It maybe hard to believe with the weather outside but Spring is not that far off.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office has begun the process of registering people for this year’s Boater Safety classes.
The first one is scheduled for March 22 at the Coldwater Lake Association building at 516 Warren Road. Others at that location will be held on June 7 and October 18.
Others are scheduled for the Sunset Cove Resort on May 17 and on June 21 and in the Sheriff’s Department training room on June 14.
Lunch will be provided. Any motorized boat operator born after June 30, 1996, is required by law to pass an approved boater safety course and to carry a boater safety certificate.
In addition, boater education is also required for all PWC operators born after December 31, 1978.
Michigan’s boater education course is taught by certified volunteer instructors, sheriff’s deputies and Michigan conservation officers.
