COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The first step towards a bonding question that would help pay for renovations at Coldwater High School took place on Monday night as the Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education approved a $26,000 contract with TMP Architecture for Pre-Bond Services.
According to the resolution read by Board President Doctor Ed Lake, the potential bond issue would take place either later this year or in 2026.
Representatives of TMP were introduced at last month’s school board meeting. Eduardo Blanc from the firm’s Kalamazoo office said they have partnered with other school districts.
Coldwater High School was built in 1956 and parts of the building are showing its age.
District voters turned down two bonding questions in November of 2021 that would have funded an expansion of the high school as well as renovations.
A $53 million bond proposal that would have been used to fund improvements and upgrades at C.H.S. and other buildings in the district was voted down six months later.
