UNDATED (WTVB) – District championships were decided on Friday night in the M.H.S.A.A. Boys Basketball Tournament.
Despite having to go four overtimes in their 79-77 win over Coldwater on Wednesday night, the Battle Creek Lakeview Spartans had plenty left in the gas tank as they defeated Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 87-67 to win the Division One district title at Lakeview.
Also in Division One, Kalamazoo Central defeated Portage Central 66-54.
In Division Two, Marshall won their 11th straight game as they defeated Harper Creek 58-49 in the Three Rivers district final. Marshall, Harper Creek and Pennfield tied for the Interstate 8 championship. Pennfield was eliminated by Harper Creek 47-41 in the Wednesday semifinals.
Another I-8 team was eliminated as Parma Western lost to Chelsea 46-44 in the district final at Brooklyn Columbia Central.
In Division Three, Schoolcraft won the district title at Quincy as they defeated Centreville 53-35. Big 8 Conference champion Stockbridge blasted Springport 56-18 while Maple Valley was beaten by Pewamo Westphalia 76-38 and Hillsdale defeated Hudson 62-57.
In Division Four, Colon advanced to the Mendon regional thanks to a 52-34 win at Burr Oak. Concord defeated Hillsdale Academy 60-32 and Waldron defeated Pittsford 36-22.
