COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After hearing from a local resident that he was interested in opening a tattoo parlor in the C-2 Central Business Zoning district, the Coldwater Planning Commission is scheduled to start the process of changing the city ordinance that would allow such a business on Monday night.
Jason Salinaz inquired about a zoning ordinance text amendment to allow tattoo parlors in the C-2 district. He said last month he wanted to run the business at 87 West Pearl Street.
City Planner Robert Hawley has proposed an amendment to lift the restriction of tattoo parlors in the C-2 Zoning District.
If the Planning Commission feels that the amendment is ready for public participation, the process would take a couple of months.
A Public Hearing would be held followed by the Planning Commission making a recommendation one way or another to the City Council.
The City Council would then decide whether or not to introduce the zoning ordinance change. If they introduce it, there would be a public hearing two weeks later followed by possible formal action.
