Robert was born to James and Erlene (Dickinson) Hyde in Brilliant, Alabama November 20, 1942. He graduated from Summerfield High School in 1961. After high school, Robert served in the United States Army for 3 years before returning home from Korea.
He married Bonnie Hudson January 16, 1965 in Temperance, MI.
In 1967 Bob and Bonnie moved to Lambertville, MI where he took on an apprenticeship as an industrial millwright for Sharon Manufacturing. Throughout his life, the family spent their years between Michigan and Wyoming. He worked for several companies throughout the years until his retirement from Bronson Precision Products in 2005.
During retirement, he kept himself busy “working” at Gander Mountain, imparting all of his wisdom and experience to many of his customers.
During their 60 years of marriage, Bonnie and Bob welcomed five children, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was proud of their family and the “Hyde” legacy they built together. They raised their children to be independent and encouraged each to follow their own path.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed telling stories of his experiences in the mountains, riding horses and hunting in the great outdoors. In his later years, he enjoyed heading up north to their cabin and spending weeks surrounded in nature.
Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Hyde; his children Robert (Michele) Hyde of Coldwater, MI; James (Melissa) Hyde of Yuma, AZ; Michael (Hannah; Anne Joy) Hyde of Ypsilanti, MI; Victoria (William) Orlewicz of Brighton, MI; Katherine (Branden) Garner of Grand Rapids, MI; his siblings Barbara Hyde of Florida, Theresa (Doug) Greathouse of Michigan, and David “Lyn” (Jamie) Hyde of Michigan; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
