BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council is scheduled on Monday night to approve the architecture contract for the City Hall and Police Department building project.
The city wants to move its offices from the current location at 141 South Matteson Street to the Police Department building at 120 West Chicago which is twice the size as the current location of City Hall.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says there has been an overwhelming interest from architectural firms as the city received eight responses.
He said in his report for Monday’s meeting that Martin and Riley of Fort Wayne was the low bidder, and they proposed a lump sum contract of $48,000, based on an assumed $600,000 project.
If the project is lower, than that the fee would be as low as $42,000.
Mersman says Martin and Riley have done several similar projects in Indiana including the City of Decatur where they did an adaptive reuse of an old bank building.
Mersman adds Martin and Riley is also estimating a lower project cost of $450,000 to $600,000.
The current timeline calls for the awarding of the construction contract taking place in October with construction starting in November. The project is expected to be finished in June of 2026.
