COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater High School has been recognized with the College Board Advanced Placement Computer Science Female Diversity Award.
The school earned the honor for its commitment to expanding access to AP Computer Science Principles for female students.
The award honors schools that have achieved at least 50 percent female representation in AP computer science courses or a percentage of female exam takers that meets or exceeds the school’s female student population.
During the 2023-24 school year, only 847 schools around the country earned this distinction.
The program launched during the 2016-2017 school year.
Coldwater High School Principal Doctor Steven Hope said, “We’re thrilled to congratulate our female AP computer science students and their teacher, Nathan Waterbury, on this step toward equal representation. This recognition is an honor and we look forward to seeing these young women excel in computer science education and careers.”
