COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A home in the Ebyview subdivision in Coldwater Township suffered extensive damage after a fire broke out Tuesday evening.
The Coldwater Fire Department along with crews from the Quincy Fire Department, Bronson Fire Department, Lakeland Fire Department, and Union City Fire Department were all dispatched to 270 North Lake Drive for a structure fire at at 6:10 p.m. Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the front door and windows of the home, with heavy smoke and fire throughout the first floor.
The fire was under control after approximately 40 minutes, with firefighters remaining at the home until around 10:00 p.m.
The fire at the home owned by Tyler Pothoff did approximately $150,000.00 damage to the home and $50,000.00 to personal belongings. Coldwater Fire Marshal Steve Trall says the home had significant damage throughout and the cause of the fire was electrical in nature.
The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities, Branch County Victims Services, and the Branch County Sheriffs Department also assisted on the scene.
