COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- It was a long night for many waiting for power to be restored after Sunday’s storms pushed through the area. Consumers Energy says they still have over 3 thousand without power in Branch County and just under a thousand Hillsdale County, while more then 10,000 remain in the dark in Calhoun county and around 7,300 in Kalamazoo county.
CBPU says they have completed the transfer from generated power to grid power, you may have noticed a short power outage during the transfer.
The hardest hit area appears to be in Tekonsha where a number of downtown buildings were damaged, you can see photos on the WTVB Facebook page.
There are also school closings, Coldwater Community Schools including Kids Club, Kinder Learning Academy, and the Browne Aquatic Center are closed.
Branch Intermediate School District, including Waldron Center, pre-school programs, and the Branch Area Careers Center are closed.
St Charles Borromeo Catholic School is closed.
The Branch County Courthouse will open at 10 a.m. this morning.
Weather will calmer and cooler the next couple of days before another round of severe weather will be possible on Wednesday.
