It is with heaviest hearts we announce the passing of Robert J. “Bob” Miller, 76, of Sherwood, who was the kindest, most generous, compassionate, gracious, and humble man we knew. Bob passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, after valiantly fighting a long illness.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Sherwood Cemetery, 548 N. Main St., Sherwood, MI.
The family is hosting a celebration of Bob’s life at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Crossroads Bible Church, 1144 Dunks Rd, Sherwood, MI, with Pastor Trent Hammond officiating.
Bob was a father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, partner, and friend. He had a gift that made you feel important when you met him for the first time, like he knew you your whole life.
Bob was born and raised in Sherwood, Michigan. He had 7 brothers and 3 sisters; surviving are Raymond, Sharon, and Jim. He joined the Army and was stationed in Korea and Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he met and married Joni. They moved to Mendon where they raised their two daughters, Bobbie and Heather.
Bob was a faithful man and a member of Crossroads Bible Church for over 40 years.
Bob’s career was always in construction, retiring from the Union in Kalamazoo, Michigan as a Journeyman Carpenter. He dabbled in the restaurant business opening the Lamp Post in Mendon, which he later sold. His strong work ethic allowed him to meet his goal of retiring at the young age of 55, giving him the opportunity to spend as much quality time with family, friends, and time in his garden.
From the time he woke up until the time he went to bed, you could find Bob wearing his white T-shirt and Levis, spending countless hours tending his garden. It still amazes us how he managed to keep his T-shirt so white!! The fruits of his labor allowed him to generously donate over 7000 pounds of fresh produce from his garden to the Loaves and Fishes food bank in Kalamazoo.
Family was always his first priority. He had 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, currently two are on the way, and they were his life.
We will miss our summers by his immaculately kept pool, wiffle ball tournaments, basketball games, family dinners, endless Euchre tournaments, board and card games, hunting, and fishing, and all the vegetables from his garden. We will miss all of his sayings, “DO it right the first-time son,” and “son this and son that,” he would say (even though he never had a son). He gave 100% in everything he did!!!!
Thank you for teaching all of us the things we know, endless skills and important life lessons that came from you. Your impact and legacy will undoubtedly be carried on for infinity into our families, and future generations.
We say goodbye with your favorite song, “Angels Among Us” by Alabama and 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love”. Until we meet again you are forever in our hearts.
A special thanks to Dr. Blair Graham, Dr. Mathew Miller, Bronson Hospital, Centrica Care Navigators, and Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation for all of your help and support.
