TECUMSEH, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy High School girls soccer team improved their record to 3-1 Saturday, with a win and a loss at the Tecumseh Invitational.
Tecumseh beat the Orioles 3-2 in their opening game. The Indians struck first at the 24 minute mark of the first half. Three minutes later Laura Bostic was able to tie the game from her penalty shot attempt. The first half would end in a 1-1 tie.
In the second half Tecumseh went up 2-1 early on with a long strike 30 yards out. Adriana Welch then took advantage of a free kick opportunity and dropped a perfect ball in front of the goal and Laura Bostic was able to find the back of the net to tie the game.
Tecumseh got the go ahead goal with four minutes left.
In the second game Quincy played Temperance Bedford. According to Quincy Coach Ivan Swift, Bedford came out with more energy to start the game and the took advantage early from a free kick attempt and went up 1-0.
It wasn’t until the second half that the girls got their passes going and scored five unanswered goals to win the game 5-1. Laura Bostic and Izzy Barrio each scored twice, and Adriana Welch had the other goal.
Quincy will open conference play on the road Monday against Bronson at 5:30 p.m.
