Richard Thomas “Dick” Temples, 81 of Hamilton, IN, formerly of Coldwater, MI passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Parkview DeKalb Hospital in Auburn, IN.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place with a memorial service to be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coldwater, MI, with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. and a luncheon to follow the service.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
He was born March 23, 1944 to Thomas and Hazel (Gaines) Temples Sr. in Coldwater, MI. Dick was called to honorably serve his country in the United States Army where he served four years. In his lifetime, Richard lived and worked in various places, eventually settling in northern Indiana.
Being one of eight children, he developed a love of cooking at a young age. His passion for cooking led him to a brief ownership of Greenwood Inn restaurant in Ashley, IN. He spent much of his life in the food industry and cooked countless meals. He worked as a meat butcher at Hargers Meats in Hamilton and eventually retired from the State of Indiana as a meat inspector.
Once retired he got to enjoy his love of fishing by working with Steppingstone Fishing Charters at Lake Erie.
Dick was well known as an excellent cook and caterer. Being a talented outdoorsman, his love for food and fishing complimented his involvement with the Fish & Game Club in Hamilton, IN.
But, above all else, Dick cherished his family and the time he shared with them.
Dick is survived by his longtime companion Pam Aldrich of Hamilton, IN; and leaves behind his children Stacey Self of Colorado Springs, CO, Tim (Janine) Temples, Michele (Roger) Broughman both of Coldwater; his siblings Larry (Jennie) Temples of Waterloo, IN, Barb Wert of Cadillac, MI, Pat (Larry) Manchester of Salome, AZ; his grandchildren Sarah (Zakk Schmitt) Temples, Vincent Broughman; his great grandchildren Damien Hastings, Annistyn Schmitt; many loving nieces and nephews, and of course his beloved cat Wiley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda Hudson, and his brothers James Temples, Thomas Temples Jr., and Robert Temples.
Memorial donations are suggested to the family for funeral expenses. Checks may be made payable to Michele Broughman.
