COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- Branch County sheriff Fred Blankenship says deputies were kept busy during the first week of the recently reinstated overnight patrols. The week of April 1st through the 8th Blankenship says deputies answered 140 calls for service on the overnight shift, including, filing 61 reports, investigated 8 accidents, issued 6 traffic citations, and made 7 arrests.
Blankenship says ” Deputies are still adjusting to the new overnight schedule, but the transition has been successful so far”. He says “his department remains committed to protecting the community day or night, and deputies will continue to adapt and serve with dedication and professionalism around the clock”.
Branch counties overnight patrols were discontinued in 2012 due to budget constraints.
Good to know our Sheriff Department is patrolling night and day. Big thank you to our Sheriff. The public’s safety should never be sacrificed due to budget cuts. The County always seems to find money for other projects.
