COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A bit of history will be revived in Coldwater next weekend.
Sunday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. the US 12 Heritage Trail Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will be dedicating a replacement tree and a plaque at the original site of Michigan Governor Cyrus Luce’s home in Coldwater. It has since been torn down and replaced with the Public Service Building at 57 Division Street.
The plaque was originally placed at the corner of East Chicago and North Hudson Streets. That was the site of the first cabin built in Coldwater by Hugh Campbell, and honored both Coldwater residents.
At 2:15 p.m. there will be a program and reception at the Coldwater Community Center by historian Dave McDonald.

Shame his home couldn’t have been preserved. Now all that is left of him ever living in Coldwater is a plaque.
28 years ago I moved to Coldwater. there were many historical homes in good shape. Now many are in bad shape after being turned into low income apartments. Big apartment complexes are popping up everywhere and Coldwater is losing its small town appeal by the day. The people you meet on the streets and in the stores are from some other part of the world. A lot can happen in 28 years.
