MENDON, MI – (WTVB) – The Quincy Oriole softball team went 1-2 Saturday at the Mendon Invitational.
Quincy 18, Mendon 0 (3 innings)
In the first game of the day, Quincy took care of Eau Claire 18-0 in just 3 innings. Hannah Brown pitched a perfect game, striking out 6. Deziray Skirka homered, tripled and singled, driving in 5 runs. Miley Poindexter doubled, singled twice and stole 2 bases. Taylor Lewis and Shaylee Cope each had two hits. Makiya Feltner, Cali Richards, Abby Burritt, Nakeisha Baker and Hannah Brown each had a hit.
White Pigeon 11, Quincy 7 (5 innings)
In Quincy’s second game of the day, they took on White Pigeon. Quincy lead 6-3 heading into the 5th inning when things fell apart for the Orioles. White Pigeon cut the score to 6-5. Then after a big double play by shortstop Deziray Skirka and third baseman Miley Poindexter, the Chiefs tied the game on a drop third strike and added on to the score after a couple Oriole defensive errors. White Pigeon won the game 11-7 after time limit was called after the 5th inning. Deziray Skirka continued to mash the ball, going 3-for-3 with 3 doubles. Miley Poindexter tripled and singled in the game. Hannah Brown singled twice and stole 3 bases. Taylor Lewis, Cali Richards and Makiya Feltner all added singles. Taylor Lewis took the loss in the mound pitching the entire game striking out 7 and allowing just 3 earned runs.
Mendon 10, Quincy 2
In the last game of the day, Quincy took on the host team in Mendon. The Hornets took the win 10-2 over the Orioles racking up 11 hits. Makiya Feltner singled and Deziray Skirka continued her big day adding two more doubles on the day.
The Orioles will take an 8-11 record into their doubleheader Tuesday at Bronson.
