UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Union City hosted Quincy and Reading for a Big 8 triangular meet at Alumni Field. Quincy’s boys defeated Union City 81-56 and Reading 96-41, while the Chargers beat the Rangers 78-54. The Union City girls beat Quincy 87-50 and Reading 106-30, while the Orioles defeated the Rangers 96-31.
In the boys meet, Quincy’s Noah Rufenacht was a triple winner, taking first place in the 400m, high jump, and long jump. Clayton Benson won both hurdle races, Carter Feltner won the 3200m. The Orioles also swept to victory in the field events; in addition to Rufenacht’s first place finishes, Lincoln Sims won the shot put, Ethan Pearson won the discus, Corey Turner took first in the pole vault. For Union City, Ben Gautsche won the 800m and 1600m, while the Chargers won three of the four relay events (4x100m, 4x400m, and 4x800m).
In the girls meet, Union City won 10 of the 17 events. They swept all four relay races and also got wins from Attica Hoath in the 200m, Parker Williams in the 400m, Alissa Skirka in the 800m, Skyler Fraley in the 1600m and 3200m, and Felina Couch in the discus. Quincy’s Brookelyn Parker was a triple winner in the 100m dash, 100m hurdles, and 300m hurdles, while Abigail Miller was first in the high jump, Brooke McVicker won the pole vault, and Abby Tinervia won the long jump.

Quincy will host Union City and nine other schools Friday for the Oriole Classic track meet.
CONCORD, MI – Concord hosted Bronson and Stockbridge for a tri-meet. Bronson’s boys team lost to Stockbridge 77-55 and to Concord 90-43. The Lady Vikes beat Stockbridge 60-54 and fell to Concord 73-36.
The Vikings got wins from Jace Hoard in the boys shot put and discus, the boys 4×800 relay team, Miriam Sanchez in the girls 800m and 1600m, and Jaiden Hayes in both girls hurdle races.
