John C. Thurman, 77, passed away peacefully at his home May 5, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Donna Thurman (Morrison), his daughter Crystal, and their dog Jack; as well as his parents Maynard and Dorothy Thurman and siblings Norman, Wendell, Maxine, and Charles Thurman.
John left behind his three daughters Lorie (Irv) Gulick, Angela (Shawn) Councell, and Becky (Paul) Cole. Also, his six grandchildren and their spouses Crystal, Brandon, Serenity, Cheyenne, and Chase. He leaves behind nine great-grandchildren as well. John has three surviving brothers Don (Lynn), Dave (Deb), and Jerry (Faye), along with many nieces and nephews.
John was an army veteran who served two tours in Vietnam in the infantry. John enjoyed spending time in his backyard listening to the birds, riding his motorcycle, fishing, camping, canoeing, and two-tracking. All of these included his family surrounding him in what he loved.
John’s whole world was his wife and soulmate Donna. He counted down the days until they could dance once again.
There will be no service held at this time. A Celebration of Life for both John and Donna will be held at a later date. Date, time, and location to follow later this summer and will be held by the family at that time.
