SPRINGPORT, MI (WTVB) – Bronson dropped both ends of a baseball twinbill at Springport in heartbreaking fashion, 6-5 and 4-3.
The Spartans got the walkoff winner in the opener on a two-out sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh. The loss spoiled the outing of starting pitcher Carson Stevens, who allowed six hits and struck out eight in six innings of work while going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a grand slam. Reid Stukey added a single and double.
The Vikings led the nightcap 3-2 after six innings, but Springport scored twice in their half of the seventh to secure the victory. Stukey went 2-for-3 with two doubles, while Warner Wotta and Maxwell Byler each went 2-for-4.
Bronson fell to 8-6 overall, 6-3 in the Big 8, and host Sturgis for a doubleheader Saturday.
