UNDATED (WTVB) – It was a busy Friday for Branch County’s track and field athletes as they competed in MHSAA Regional meets throughout the state. At the end of the day, 19 individuals and 6 relay teams qualified for the Lower Peninsula State Finals on May 31st. They did so by finishing in the top two in their event or by meeting the published state qualifying standard.
Division 2 Regional at Berrien Springs
At the Division 2 Regional at Berrien Springs, Coldwater’s boys team finished in a tie for 4th place with Otsego; both schools had 70.5 points. The host school won with 110 points. The Lady Cards finished second with 93.5 points; Sturgis won with 110.5 points.
Five Four school records were also broken during the meet; they are noted below.
Five relay teams and 10 individuals from Coldwater advanced to the Division 2 Lower Peninsula Finals at Hamilton.

Division 3 Regional at East Jackson
At the Division 3 East Jackson Regional, Quincy’s boys finished 8th with 49 points, Union City was 11th with 20 points, and Bronson was 14th with 15 points. Jonesville won with 86 points. Quincy’s girls tied with Homer for 3rd place with 63 points apiece, Union City and Centreville tied for 8th with 37 points apiece, and Bronson was 16th with 17 points.
Between the three schools, nine individuals and a relay team advanced to the Division 3 Lower Peninsula Finals at Kent City.

Before the State Finals, Coldwater will travel to Harper Creek on Tuesday for the Interstate 8 meet, while Bronson and Union City will make the short trip to Quincy on Wednesday as the Orioles will host the Big 8 Conference meet.
