Grand Rapids, MI (WTVB) – The National Weather Service confirms six tornadoes hit west Michigan late
Thursday night. The strongest was an EF-1 twister that began near Charlotte in Eaton County and
moved into Lansing with 100-mile-per-hour peak winds. Two more EF-1 tornadoes have been
confirmed in Allegan County and both had top winds of 95 mph. Kent County had an EF-1 tornado,
and Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties had two EF-0 tornadoes.
Allegan and Kalamazoo counties remain under state of emergencies.
