Paul L. Peppiatt Sr., 87, of Quincy, Michigan, passed away peacefully May 18, 2025 at his home in Quincy surrounded by his loving family.
At Paul’s request, a private family gathering will be held to honor his life later this summer.
Born in Wyandotte, Michigan, Paul was the beloved son of Carl and Opal Peppiatt. He spent his childhood in both Missouri and Michigan, where he cultivated the values of faith, hard work, and family that would shape the course of his life.
June 26, 1956 Paul married his lifelong love, Shirley Frederick. Their marriage, which spanned over 68 years, was a testament to enduring love, loyalty, partnership, and commitment.
Paul led a life marked by quiet strength and devotion to God and family. His strong work ethic and integrity earned him the respect of all who knew him. He was a self-made entrepreneur and renovated multiple houses and apartments in the Quincy and Coldwater area over the years.
One of his favorite memories was cutting wood with his father as a child. This was the start of his keen ability at wood crafting, which sparked an expanded interest in fixing all things. Paul was the most reliable handyman that a family could ask for. He could fix anything… and he did, for everyone.
In 1999, Paul and Shirley embraced their love of warmer weather by becoming snowbirds, splitting their time between their families in Quincy/Coldwater, Michigan, and Oviedo, Florida. He was “Grandpa Paul” to all of the children in the neighborhood. Gramps was always there with a great big hug, a smile, or the sound of his special chuckle that will remain in our hearts for years to come.
He also had a zest for adventure and loved to travel to new and exciting places. Among some of his favorite destinations were Alaska, Hawaii and Japan.
Paul cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always offering unconditional love, a gentle spirit, and a steady presence. His legacy of kindness and dedication lives on in those he leaves behind. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his children, Cathy (Ken) Cleland, Debby (Paul) Clark, and Paul (Mara) Peppiatt Jr.; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and his brother, Daniel Peppiatt.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy (Jim) Hixon. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
