Auburn, IN (WTVB)- The Indiana State Police, at the request of the Auburn Police Department, are investigating an officer involved shooting, resulting in injuries to an Auburn man.
Preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police detectives revealed that Sunday evening at 6:30pm a call came into DeKalb County dispatch of a male who entered a residence in the 300 block of W. 11th St in Auburn and pointed a gun at another person. Auburn Police responded to the location, and the man had fled the area. Auburn PD located the man a short time later near the residence. The male was armed and an exchange of gun fire ensued. The male suspect was shot and injured. As soon as it was safe to do so, Auburn Police Officers rendered first aid until medics arrived. He was then transported to a local hospital.
No officers were injured during the incident. The officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure for Auburn Police Department.
This is an ongoing investigation by the Indiana State Police and more information will be released as soon as it is available.
The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Auburn Police Department, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Garrett Police Department, Avilla Police Department, Auburn Fire Department, and Parkview EMS.
