COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater will be honoring a couple who were both Mayors of the city in the first phase of the Western Meadows Subdivision.
The Coldwater City Council approved the naming of “Wallace Lane” Monday night in honor former Mayors Eugene and Louise Wallace.
They both served eight years as Mayor and they also served on many other City boards and commissions.
City Manager Keith Baker said before the recommendation was made, the City reviewed existing GIS records to ensure that there were no public roads currently using a variation of “Wallace” within the county.
Louise Wallace was Mayor of Coldwater from 1985 until 1993. Her husband Gene served as Coldwater Mayor from 2003 until 2011.
In addition, the City Council formally accepted the site plan application for the First Phase of the proposed subdivision after it was approved last Wednesday by the Coldwater Planning Commission.
The project involves the development of ten single-family residential lots on about 14-and-a-half acres of vacant land along Western Avenue.
