Dr. Pedro Alvear Sevidal, Jr., 89, of Coldwater, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by his family January 3, 2025.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a Catholic funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek Saturday July 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
He was born October 19, 1935 to Dr. Pedro Sevidal Sr. and Esperanza (Alvear) Sevidal in San Fabian, Philippines and was the eldest of their 4 children.
Dr. Sevidal earned his Medical degree from Far Eastern University (FEU) in Manila, Philippines in 1958 and immigrated to the United States completing his medical internship at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a residency at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Sevidal specialized in Ear Nose and Throat medicine and Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery.
It was in Baltimore where he met and married Dorathea Rae Sevidal (nee James) who preceded him in death on April 30, 2024. Dr. Sevidal and his family moved to Battle Creek, Michigan in 1967 where he set up practice and lived for over 10 years. Dr. Sevidal also lived and practiced in Ludington, MI eventually moving to Coldwater, MI in 1986 until his retirement there in 2000. Dr. Sevidal continued to serve as a provider to the Battle Creek VA Center until he completely retired in 2007.
Dr. Sevidal was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and a loving father to his children who survive him: Michael (Beth) Sevidal of Clermont, FL, Carl (Kaycee) Sevidal of Coldwater, MI, Shawn Sevidal of Muskegon, MI, and Catina (Jason Ball) Sevidal of Battle Creek. He is survived by his brother Ramon (Jasmine) Sevidal and is uncle to Dana (Archie) Cristobal. He was proud of his six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Dr. Sevidal was preceded in death by his parents; sister Hilda Sevidal, brother Constante Sevidal and by his beautiful daughter, Hope Sevidal-Elferdink.
