COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Frank Walsh told their Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that the project to renovate the courtrooms in the Branch County Courthouse is moving along.
He said the proposed contracts for IT work and courtroom chairs seem to be under budget. The Commissioners are scheduled to take action on those contracts next month.
County officials plan to meet next week with the Kalleward Group out of Kalamazoo who will be serving as the project’s construction company.
Work is scheduled to begin in the Probate Court during the month of July. Walsh says to save money, the work in the District and Circuit Courts will be done at the same time after the Probate Court is finished.
The renovation work in the three courtrooms is expected to take almost six months to complete.
The work is being done in part to increase security and bring the courtrooms into A.D.A. compliance.
