AURBURN, IN (WTVB)- The charges for the suspect in a police action shooting earlier this month in Auburn, Indiana.
The police-action shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, after DeKalb County dispatch received reports of a man who entered a home on West 11th Street and pointed a gun at another person before fleeing the scene.
When police located the suspect, later identified as 44- year old Kyle Leins, they say there was an exchange of gunfire between him and an Auburn Police Department officer. Leins was shot and injured as a result.
The officer who shot and injured Leins, identified as Noah Woollweever, was placed on administrative leave after the shooting, per department policy.
O n Sunday, DeKalb County Prosecutor Neal Blythe shares that Leins faces the following preliminary charges:
2 Count of Attempted Murder (Level 1 Felony),Burglary (Level 2 Felony), Criminal Recklessness (Level 5 Felony), Intimidation (Level 5 Felony), 3 Counts of UNlawful Carrying of a Handgun (Level 5 Felony), and Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony)
Leins was booked into the DeKalb County Jail on Sunday.
