COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- As heat and humidity increase so does the threat of strong to severe storms across the entire area. The National Weather Service says a cold front will move into Southern Michigan late Wednesday afternoon and evening and that could trigger a line of storms capable of turning severe.
The entire area has been upgraded to an enhanced (3/5) chance for severe weather, in fact that area stretches from north of Lansing all the way down to southwest Indiana. The NWS says the biggest threats will be damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain but isolated tornados can’t be ruled out.
Following the stormy weather will be extreme heat heading into the weekend, forecast highs are for near 90 degrees on Saturday and 92 on Sunday and into early next week with a heat index reaching the triple digits.
