Cell phone listed as cause of apartment fire that displaces 14 residents at Whispering Pines

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -Coldwater Fire Department along with automatic aid from Quincy and Bronson Fire Departments was dispatched to 199 Whispering Pines Dr. Apt G for a structure fire at 5: 11 p.m.

Fire units arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the second story apartment. The apartment involved suffered significant damage throughout along with three other apartments suffering fire or water damage.

The estimated damage to the building is $75,000.00 and $25,000.00 to
contents. The fire was under control after approximately 30 minutes and crews remained On Scene until 9:35 pm.

The fire was caused by a cell phone. Fourteen people were displaced from the four apartments suffering fire and water damage. Victims Services also responded to the scene to assist those impacted by the fire.
